The Asch conformity experiments, initially conducted in the 1950s, showcased the extent to which people were willing to overlook the evidence of their own eyes and give incorrect answers in a basic visual test in order to conform with the rest of a group.

Almost 75% of the participants gave at least one incorrect answer.
