The first ballistic missile in history was the V-2, designed and manufactured by Germany during World War II. It was used by the Luftwaffe to attack cities in England and Belgium starting in 1944. The V-2 was developed by the team led by Wernher von Braun and is considered the precursor to modern ballistic missiles.
